IECE signs National EV Policy Contract

Under the auspices of Pro Rector Nasir Mahmood, a landmark contract was signed by Dr. Aazir Khan, Director of the Integrated Engineering Centre of Excellence (IECE), to lead the national scoping study of Pakistan’s Electric Vehicle (EV) policy passed in December 2020. This significant achievement positions IECE at the forefront of clean transportation policy, bringing together manufacturers, researchers, and financial institutions to form a national alliance for sustainable mobility.
A key component of this initiative includes promoting Electrofitting (also known as EFitting) of vehicles—an innovative project pioneered by IECE. This award marks IECE’s second major milestone in the EV space, following the Ministry of Climate Change’s recognition of its National Electric Vehicles Policy Recommendations for potential inclusion in future policy updates.
The broader vision is to build a comprehensive EV ecosystem in Pakistan that not only supports the effective implementation of the national EV policy, but also fosters sustainable, economically viable, and socially impactful transportation solutions.
