IECE signs National EV Policy Contract
Under the auspices of the Pro Rector Nasir Mahmood, the National EV policy scoping contract with the European Climate Foundation (TARA) was signed by Dr Aazir Khan, Director of the Integrated Engineering Centre of Excellence (IECE). This award was won by IECE to be the lead in scoping the National Electric vehicles policy passed in Dec 2020, and to lead a national alliance of clean transportation manufacturers, researchers and financial institutes. A part of the study is to promote Electrofitting (aka EFitting) of vehicles, a project initiated by IECE. This award is part of IECE’s plan to become a lead in electric vehicle policy, regulation and standardization, and is the second major achievement after having their National Electric Vehicles Policy Recommendations accepted by the Ministry of Climate Change, Pakistan to be considered for Policy additions.
Ultimately the goal is to develop an electric vehicle ecosystem in Pakistan that will assess and aid in the progress of the EV policy implementation to ensure sustainable transportation that is not only environmentally conscious, but also carries economic and social implications.
